Stephan Van Van Den Burg est un artiste néerlandais qui produits des dessins qui en plus d’être beaux sont intelligents.

Il donne quelques explications à propos de sa technique toute particulière :
Most of these drawings are made with pencil and scotch magic tape on paper (25,4 x 25,4 cm). When working on a piece I draw on paper, then put a piece of tape on the graphite line and withdraw the tape from the surface. The line stays on the paper, but a copy is also made on the glueside of the tape, which I stick on the drawing again. Then I draw new lines across it and repeat the proces. In a way it’s like sampling. With the copied lines I build up the drawing. But the sampled bits are not an exact copy, because tiny bits of graphite, dust or the cutlines become also visible. These ‘accidents’ help giving the work it’s unique character.

Une autre oeuvre de Stephan, mixant dessin et outil :

Lorsqu’il expose, Stephan accompagne ses dessins d’un schéma reproductif de l’installation, ainsi qu’un dessin de la série Save the dot. Sur ces dessins, qui ne représentent que des points oranges, il en manque toujours un ou deux qui se seraient facétieusement échappés de leur support pour aller sur le mur s’accoler à un dessin, simulant une hypothétique vente. Très astucieux !
